Claudia Venditto

Claudia Venditto is a dedicated art teacher and business owner. She is a talented artist and graduated with a Master’s of Art in Teaching from RISD in 1995. As the owner of Blue Door Studio, she has successfully employed a number of instructors and used her talents to educate her students in the world of art. Here is what she had to say about her experience as a female business owner:

When asked about what motivates her, Claudia explained that the creativity of her students is the true motivator. Seeing them progress and succeed in their own personal artistic journeys is the best part of the job. Feeling like she is a part of her student’s journey is the rewarding factor of being both a teacher and studio owner. She has seen a number of her dedicated students grow as individuals, which has challenged Claudia to grow as an individual as well.

As a female business owner in a male-dominated world, we asked Claudia if there have been any stigmas she has faced throughout her career. Through her success, she explained that she never felt pressured when compared to other male counterparts. In fact, as a woman, she feels as though she has an advantage because many parents are trusting that she will create a safe and pleasant environment for their children. Growing up with older and successful sisters as her role models, Claudia was inspired to create her own business with Blue Door. She said it was important to see the females in her family succeed within their own businesses and careers.

For our final question, we asked Claudia why she chose her career. This is what she said about owning her art studio:

“I can take my vision of art education and implement it the way I see fit, through my own vision and creation for ages pre-k to adult. As a business owner, I also see it as an opportunity to create. I think owning a business takes creativity and creative thinking.”

Blue Door Studio is located in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The studio has been in operation for the past five years this past November, and it started prior to as a home business in Claudia’s garage!
